National Elections are run by the states. It is important to have information specific to your state. It is clear that voter preference in changing in some southern states like Georgia and Arizona.  The states have different rules and they can change. Americans can register by mail, In person at local office, during early voting, at polling place, or online, A few states provide for registration after the deadline. BUT YOU MUST KNOW THE RULES FOR YOUR STATE.

Use a website like Rock the Vote to register to vote.

It is important to confirm that you are registered to vote before every election.

CHOOSE HOW YOU WILL VOTE.

ABSENTEE BALLOT

Request your ballot as soon as you legal can to that in your state. At many state sites you can register, request a ballot, see if your request has been receive, the ballot sent to you and your complete ballot received. Make sure you know how it is done in your state.

When your ballot comes, read all the material that comes with it. If your ballot says to use a certain writing instrument, use it. Fill out the ballot envelop carefully. Make sure your witness follows the rules. If state requires a privacy envelop, use it. You do not want you ballot thrown out because you did not follow the instructions.

You can vote by mail. BECAUSE THERE MAY BE ISSUES WITH MAIL DELIVERY THIS YEAR, MAIL YOUR BALLOT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

BETTER YET: If you can use the secure drop box provided by your state.

If you are at high risk for Covid, this is perhaps the safest way to vote.

EARLY VOTING

Check the rules for early voting for your state.

It best to double check with your state voting office site for any changes.

In many states early voting has already begun. Contact your Local Election Office for voting sites. Wear a mask, practice social distancing, bring a folding chair if you have trouble standing.

So much is at stake in this election. We are being challenged to make the American Dream work for all against unbelievable odds: Wide spread efforts at voter suppression, living with a pandemic, struggling with a broken economy, documented attacks by foreign governments.
