In “21 Lessons for the 21st Century,” Yuval Noah Harari writes:
“In a world deluged by irrelevant information, clarity is power. In theory, anybody can join the debate about the future of humanity, but it is so hard to maintain a clear vision. We might not even notice that a debate is going on, or what the key questions are. Most of us can’t afford the luxury of investigating, because we have more pressing things to do: we have to go to work, take care of the kids, or look after elderly parents. Unfortunately, history does not give discounts. If the future of humanity is decided in your absence, because you are too busy feeding and clothing your kids, you and they will not be exempt from the consequences. This is unfair; but who said history was fair?”
We are looking for people to do some investigating for the rest of us. We believe that we could save the world and change our life together qualitatively if we could collect the information on the issues of the “We the People” campaign at www.voiceforthecommongood.com.
These are the eight issues: healthy environment, economy that works for all, education for life and work, healthcare for all, safe schools and neighborhoods, criminal justice reform, end to immigration stalemate, easy voting for all.
We may find people who could help us among seniors who have been concerned about justice all of their lives. These are people who retired at the top of their game. They have been in the trenches all of their lives. They have something to say.
Do you know someone on top of one of these issues? Please use this form to tell us a little about this elder and please give us contact information. We are looking for people who are clear about one of these issues. People who know the history of the struggle. People who know the tensions that need to worked through to come to a resolution. People who have a clear vision about the work that needs to be done.
